The D-Backs have traded right-hander Allen Webster to the Pirates for cash considerations.

Webster was traded to the D-Backs from Boston last offseason in a deal that sent left-hander Wade Miley to the Red Sox and right-hander Rubby De La Rosa to the desert.

The Chicago Cubs have acquired Rex Brothers from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for left-hander Wander Cabrera.

Brothers, who turns 28 next month, split last season between the Rockies and Triple-A Albuquerque, going 1-0 with a 1.74 ERA in 17 Major League relief appearances.

The Houston Astros have traded Jed Lowrie to the Oakland Athletics less than a year after the infielder left Oakland to sign a three-year deal with Houston.

The Astros acquired right-hander Brendan McCurry in the deal.

The Tigers have acquired outfielder Cameron Maybin from the Braves in exchange for left-handers Ian Krol and Gabe Speier. 

Maybin, 28, returns to the organization that drafted him. The Tigers took Maybin in the first round in 2005, and he made his major league debut for Detroit in 2007 before being traded to the Marlins as a key prospect in the deal that brought Miguel Cabrera to the Tigers.

The A's have acquired Liam Hendriks from the Blue jays for fellow pitcher Jesse Chavez.

Hendriks became a full-time reliever for the first time with Toronto last season and went 5-0 with a 2.92 ERA in 58 appearances.

Chavez has spent the past two seasons as a swingman with the A's and went 7-15 with a 4.18 ERA in 30 games this year, including 26 starts.

The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired Jonathan Villar from the Houston Astros in exchange for minor league right-hander Cy Sneed.

Villar, 24, provides the Brewers with some much-needed infield depth and will be reunited with David Stearns, who left the Astros to become the general manager of the Brewers this offseason.

The Diamondbacks have traded right-hander Jeremy Hellickson to the Phillies for right-handed pitching prospect Sam McWilliams.

The 28-year-old Hellickson went 9-12 with a 4.62 ERA in 27 starts after being traded to Arizona from Tampa Bay last offseason. He was the AL Rookie of the Year in 2011 and won a Gold Glove in 2012.

Hellickson is 49-48 with a 3.94 ERA in 142 games in six big league seasons.

The Boston Red Sox have acquired Craig Kimbrel from the San Diego Padres in exchange for four Minor League players.

San Diego will receive outfield prospect Manuel Margot, shortstop Javier Guerra, infielder Carlos Asuaje and left-hander Logan Allen.

All four players rated among Boston's top-30 prospects in MLB.com's latest ranking.

The Atlanta Braves have traded Andrelton Simmons to the Los Angeles Angels for Erick Aybar and top pitching prospects Sean Newcomb and Chris Ellis.

The Braves will also receive $2.5 million, while the Angels get Minor League catcher Jose Briceno.

Simmons also is under contract through 2020, whereas Aybar could become a free agent next winter.

The New York Yankees have acquired Aaron Hicks from the Minnesota Twins in exchange for John Ryan Murphy.

Hicks, 26, currently slots in as a fourth outfielder for the Yankees with Chris Young headed for free agency.

The trade could also mean the Yankees will trade Brett Gardner, which has been rumored in several reports.

"At the very least he provides us with what we were getting from Chris Young for the past two years, and at the very most, he provides us with a lot of flexibility depending on how the winter transpires," Brian Cashman said of Hicks. "We believe he's an everyday player."
